My Cure for the Summertime Blues

Let me start this off by saying that my summer is jam-packed and I don’t anticipate having any summertime blues.  But, I will have down days and lots of time by myself once I get to California in August.  One of my biggest concerns is not DOING anything and just sitting around, because I won’t meet people or explore that way.  So, this is my solution:

I found this on Pinterest, possibly the best social media website I’ve found yet.  For those of you that don’t know, it’s mainly for women.  They tag images of fashion tips, recipes, decorating ideas, etc. and when you click on them it takes you to the website it came from.  Anyway, this was posted by a mother who said she tapes it to her refrigerator every Memorial Day and when she finds herself or the kids bored throughout the summer, she let’s them go to the list and pick whatever they want to do from it to add some excitement to their day.

Now, I don’t have kids.  But I am a kid at heart 🙂 It is not my goal to do all of these things, some are weird.  Others are weird for adults.  But I am going to keep this list handy and when I need to get out, I’m going to pick one and do it.  Then I’ll look back on Labor Day weekend and see how many I actually accomplished!

To start with, today I did something else on my Things to Do before Leaving list, I kayaked in the lakes by my house.  It’s free and something I’ve never taken advantage of before, but it was really fun!  It was also a secret arm workout, which I needed and relaxing. That crossed off “aquatic center” from this list.  Then I went to the pool and swam laps in between tanning, which crossed off “swim”.  So there are two less items on my summer fun list… I challenge you all to see how much fun you can have this summer!
