Not Your Average Joe’s

Leesburg, VA

Last night I revisited this American fare restaurant with a group that had never been there.  We had such a good time, I decided to officially review it.  It was 7pm on a Saturday night and we only waited about 10 minutes, which was a huge plus.  The one negative thing I have to say, I’ll get out-of-the-way early: the booth we were seated in was a little small for five people.  Our menus were all overlapping and it was a puzzle to find your drink amid the chaos.  But that’s the worst of it, this restaurant is absolutely recommended.

They start by bringing you a basket of bread and a plate full of red pepper shavings and parmesan cheese.  After a little oil is added, the most amazing dip is created.  We downed two plates/baskets with no problem.  It’s amazing.  I ordered a pepperoni pizza, which is brick-oven baked and thin.  Which left me pleasantly full, but not stuffed feeling.  They encourage you to change/edit their menu items, which is always a plus in my book.

Other members of my party got a burger and chicken sandwich (on ciabatta!) which were both juicy and delicious.  The shrimp salad looked good as well, with a decent amount of shrimp and bread triangles on the side.  Finally, the halibut was lightly breaded and served with mixed veggies of the good kind (squash, zucchini, etc.) and looked probably the best of anything on the table.  No one had any complaints about this fun, family restaurant that’s way better than your average joe’s.
